More about our B&B

The region

The Western Cape area at the southern tip of the African continent attracts by far the most visitors in South Africa. The area extends along the Indian and Atlantic Oceans in a wide arc around Cape Town, the capital of this province.

With the metropolis of Cape Town and it's famous Waterfront, the beautiful Cape Peninsula, the magnificent wine-growing areas around Stellenbosch and Franschhoek, the famous Garden Route along the south coast as well as the cultural and culinary diversity, the Western Cape Province is a fascinating holiday destination.

You are in the middle of wine country and popular destinations such as the famous Vergelegen wine estate or the Erinvale Golf Club and the Helderberg Nature Reserve are practically on your doorstep.

The country

South Africa is one of the most beautiful countries in the world and is on top of the list for many travellers. The diversity of landscape is hard to beat. It’s not for nothing South Africa Tourism advertises with the slogan: "The World in One Country".

3000 km coastline with numerous beautiful beaches, mountains as high as the Alps, high plateaus and dry lands, forests, lakes and river scenery, the most species-rich vegetation zones of the world, wildlife and nature parks with wild animals, South Africa really offers something for every taste.

The possibilities are so diverse that you could quickly lose track. We gladly help you to sort the "wheat from the chaff".

In October 2016 my wife and I spent 4 weeks in the Somerset Sights apartment. It was a most enjoyable stay due to a number of reasons, not the least being the thoughtfulness of the hosts, Peter and Mai. The finishes in the apartment were of high quality and there was more than enough cutlery and glassware to make it very convenient. The estate,Dennegeur Estate, is very well run and has a good reputation for safety and security. Lastly, we enjoyed a wonderful breakfast out on the terrace overlooking False Bay. Thank you, Peter and Mai, for being such wonderful hosts, We will certainly come back. Chris and Aat van der Leij

We've just returned from two weeks in South Africa and our second week was spent in Somerset Sights B&B. It truly exceeded our expectations and was a perfect place to relax and explore the local area. Our room was fresh and bright with a magnificent view from two sides of the room, one looking on to the pool and the mountains/Ocean the other looking on to the beautiful garden. The room has everything that you would find in a 5* hotel including laundry service, mini bar and the comfiest dressing gowns i've ever worn. Every day Peter and Mai prepared us a delicious breakfast and by the time we got back to our room it had been cleaned and replenished. Peter and Mai are very knowledgeable on the local area and helped us with recommendations and bookings. They are kind and warm people who make you and other guests feel welcome. If we go back to Somerset west we will most definitely be staying here again.

We had a late flight and only arrived at the guest house at 11 pm. Peter was very accommodating, making us feel welcome and safe at our arrival. The rooms are modern and well equipped. When we woke up the next morning we were blown away by the stunning sea view from our room. We had a delicious breakfast every morning, consisting of fresh fruits and various cheeses, cereals, breads and yogurts, even pastries. Peter even made us lovely bacon and eggs. We enjoyed the company of Peter, Mai and their dog Gutsy. I would highly recommend their B&B whenever you find yourself in Somerset West. I cannot wait to return, it felt like we were visiting an old friend.
